ep. 30: Jenna Wolf
Jenna Wolf, owner of The Lotus Room Ayurveda Nashville, explains what ayurveda is and the ayurvedic practices she uses to help her clients reach their wellness goals, and shares the massage gloves she uses to keep cellulite at bay.
Our guest this week is Jenna Wolf, the owner of the ayurvedic healing studio The Lotus Room Ayurveda Nashville, a 200 RYT yoga instructor and a licensed massage therapist. A native of Southern California, Jenna is a graduate of Sevanti Institute’s Ayurveda Wellness Counsleor program and teaches weekly yoga classes at Shakti Power Yoga.
So, what is ayurveda, you ask?
Ayurveda is essentially Indian holistic medicine and one of the world's oldest medical systems. The word literally means "knowledge of life." According to BanyanBotanicals.com (a resource Jenna pointed us to), "ayurveda is a remarkably individualized system of medicine... rooted in the idea that each of us is born with a completely personal blueprint for optimum health... No two constitutions are exactly alike; therefore, no two human beings can have precisely the same expression of ideal health. In Ayurveda, everything is medicine and everything is poison; what might be beneficial to you could harm someone else, and visa versa. Ayurveda is fundamentally opposed to one-size-fits-all remedies." To determine your constitution, your current state of balance, and a set of personalized recommendations to support you in your journey towards optimal health, Jenna points us to the Ayurvedic Profile™. She also offers assessments at The Lotus Room Ayurveda.
In this episode, Jenna gives us the lowdown on all things ayurveda and the ayurvedic practices she uses to help her clients reach their wellness goals. She also, of course, shares her favorite beauty products, including the laxative that doubles as a facial steam (yep, you read that right), the massage gloves she uses to keep cellulite at bay, and the *best* essential oil that might make your house smell like a pizzeria. She also explains her neti pot and dry brushing routines in great detail. (And no, Jenna promises you will not get a brain-eating amoeba from using one!)
